@ILLINIWBB TO HOST WAKE FOREST FOR ACC/B1G CHALLENGE

Rosemont, Ill. - Fighting Illini women's basketball will host Wake Forest in the 2016 ACC/Big Ten Challenge, as announced today by the Big Ten and Atlantic Coast Conferences. The two teams will meet for the third time in program history. The Illini are 4-5 all-time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, most recently traveling to Miami to face the Hurricanes during the 2015-16 season.

Illinois owns a 2-0 record against the Demon Deacons in program history, with the last meeting, a 95-82 victory, coming in Champaign in 2012. The two programs first met in 2009 in Winston-Salem, N.C., a contest that saw Illinois top Wake Forest, 65-50. Head coach Matt Bollant is 1-0 against Wake Forest in his career.

The Illini are coming off of another record-setting year as the Orange and Blue reset the school record for season three-pointers, netting 224 treys in 30 games. The Illini closed the 2015-16 campaign with an overall record of 9-20, going 2-16 in Big Ten play. Illinois started the season off with a 4-0 record for the second year under Bollant's coaching, scoring 90-points in consecutive games during that span.
